Middle School Tournament #2

November 11, 2017 marked the second Middle School Debate Tournament held at Midwood High School 2839 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11210. Various teams from the different boroughs came to participate and show their passion and love for debate. There were forty two schools in attendance, 444 students, 107 judges and volunteers, without the assistance of judges and volunteers, the event would not be possible.This tournament included a variety of pairings which were Big Questions, Novice Parliamentary, Novice Public Forum and Open Public Forum.


Schools such as Berkeley Carroll, PS 161 Pedro Albizu Campus, NYC Lab School for Collaborative Studies, MS 243 are the name of a few schools who participated within the Novice Parliamentary section of the tournament. Schools such as PS/IS 218, PS/IS 499, Horace Mann, CIS 303 Leadership and Community Service, Hunter’s Point, among others participated within the Novice Public Forum division. Schools within the Open Parliamentary section included Dr Izquierdo Health and Science Charter, Marine Park IS 278, PS 161 Pedro Albizu Campus and more. Within the Open Public Forum division, there were schools such as Geneva School of Manhattan, Berkeley Carroll, MS 297, Hunter’s Point among others. Concluding the debates, an award ceremony was held and this showed all the passionate participants and their love for debate and also showed proud parents.
