2014-2015 MSQI Debate Tournament #2 Results Where:  Brooklyn Technical High School
When:  January 10, 2015
Resolution:  Resolved:  The benefits of nuclear power outweigh the potential risks.

We had quite an exciting MSQI Debate Tournament #2 at Brooklyn Tech this Saturday.  Our debate community was proud to welcome Mayor de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCrae who visited in the morning. Mayor de Blasio gave a moving speech about the power of debate and its impact on student achievement, and several of our debaters got a photo op with the Mayor and First Lady.

We also had our biggest turnout yet - over 160 students from 18 MSQI schools participated. Regardless of wins and losses, all students were winners by engaging in a rigorous, literacy-based, academic activity for 8+ hours on a Saturday.

Special congratulations go to the following students/coaches/schools for outstanding performances at Saturday's tournament:

Team Awards:
1st Place - Syanna and L'Hussen - MS 101
2nd Place - Amirah and Claudia - IS 109
3rd Place - Leila and Elizabeth - Hunters Point

Speaker Awards:

2nd Place - Alexa - North Star
